In 2021, a critical gap emerged for the youth and families of Titus County when the area's only nonprofit afterschool program withdrew from the community, leaving Mount Pleasant, TX, without a vital resource and creating a need for affordable, safe, and high-quality afterschool and summer care.
Ignite Youth Club was founded to meet this need.
Our vision was born from a desire to create a program that was not just a placeholder for students after school, but a place of growth, learning, and inspiration.

Our founder, Kelly Baker, was a three-year board member of the previous Mount Pleasant, TX, afterschool program. She knew firsthand the community's need and the lack of regional programs, and she was determined to build an organization that would set a new standard for excellence in youth services.
The new nonprofit was born with the help of early support from key local figures in teaching and school administration who would later become board members. This let Ignite start with a strong foundation in education that would shape all of its programs.
The challenges facing Mount Pleasant, TX, children were significant when Ignite Youth Club was founded. Unfortunately, certain challenges remain, affecting many students in our own community.
In the school districts we serve, 77% of students are economically disadvantaged, 73% are classified as at-risk, and 46% are learning English as a second language.
From our initial start with just over 20 children, Ignite Youth Club has grown to serve nearly 200 students. We even started a waitlist, which demonstrates the immense demand and ongoing importance of a Mount Pleasant, TX, nonprofit like ours.
Our continued growth has been a testament to the community's trust in us. We are so grateful to have community members like you enrolling in our programs and supporting our cause.
